Our Planet Needs You

Programme Overview

Across nine challenges, young people learn about practical actions that reduce waste, litter and carbon emissions.

Launched in partnership with community organisations and schools, the programme makes behaviour change simple and fun, with a point-scoring system, friendly competition and leaderboard that shows the impact of the changes being made in the local community.

Gamified and Fun

Cartoon active children surrounding a smiling Earth with a face, with a bright smiling sun below. The children are playing, holding flowers, watering, and relaxing against the Earth, which is on a grassy patch with flowers, trees, and animals, symbolizing caring for the planet.

Each challenge gives children and young people the chance to score (or lose) points as they compete to make the biggest impact on waste and emissions in their local area.

A friendly competition between participating organisations makes climate action exciting, measurable, and rewarding.

DfE Strategy Aligned

A cartoon-style illustration of a girl with multiple hats stacked on her head, standing in a starry night sky with a bright sun smiling in the sky. Surrounding her are animated characters including a smiling moon, a green cartoon insect with wings and red sneakers, a smiling brown rock with yellow eyes and arms, and a bright shining sun with a face.

For school’s who engage with the Programme, our 9 initiatives are aligned with the Department for Education’s Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy, delivering real-world projects that support all five pillars: climate education, green skills and careers, the education estate and digital infrastructure, supply chains and operations, and international collaboration.

Students get to play their part in tackling waste, pollution, and emissions through fun, hands-on learning that benefits the wider community.

YOUTH LED

Youth volunteers and secondary school students lead the programme, engaging younger pupils and the wider community while tracking progress.

This creates a self-sustaining model that embeds sustainability into every day life, and prepares Youth Leads for future work placements in the green economy.

Measurable Impact

Our Earthometer dashboard tracks the impact of the programme on litter, waste, air quality and carbon savings, supporting local organisations and councils with their net zero targets.
